Here's a leopard slug that was on the inside of the rim of the compost bin this morning.
I'm not picking it up with my bare hands. I did read though that they do eat other slugs. Maybe I should introduce it to the slugs that are still hanging out around the dahlias, although finally, most of the dahlias are winning the battle.
And the rather gross seeming leopard slug can also be totally fascinating.
You've got to watch this video.
All I can think of though, is running face first into that down a dark trail one night:(
Okay..I am sitting here at 4am totally grossed out. OMG..Their male organs come out from behind their heads and then grow into huge plasma like things while they twirl off a string of slime. I'm going to have nightmares...EEEWWWWWEEEWWWEEEWWW..trying to think of bunnies and kittens right now!
ReplyDeleteThat has to be one of the most bizarre things I've ever seen! I'm with you, no running through the forest at night for fear of being totally slimed! :O
