Our narcissus is up and we have to cut back the roses that are already in bloom because of this summer-like winter weather. I should have cut them back the end of January :0(gvmamahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05867025752175321347noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-486219060874117495.post-49881643608495485192012-02-24T22:57:05.811-08:002012-02-24T22:57:05.811-08:00I should try the boiling water around the raspberr...I should try the boiling water around the raspberry plants, where I've given up trying to get rid of the buttercups. Last year I tried to smother them with big hard packed chunks of manure out of the sheep barn. Didn't get rid of the buttercups, in fact they were probably bigger and healthier than ever. What did happen though was that I didn't get as many new raspberry canes coming up, which will bear the fruit for this coming year. They just couldn't force their way through the clumps. The buttercups just sent runners through gaps between the clumps, and were as bad as ever.<br />When I make jam I take the water from the canner and dump it on the weeds growing between patio paving stones. I'd have to do it to the butter cups around the raspberries before the new shoots started coming up though, or else I'd probably burn them off too.Karenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08938874724231860923noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-486219060874117495.post-8377461715712602122012-02-24T21:11:03.164-08:002012-02-24T21:11:03.164-08:00You certainly have your work cut out.
